John joined storeys:ssp Newcastle Office in 1970 before moving to Teesside in 1980 where, together with Ian Battle, they developed the office from 5 to 25 staff which now provides the full range of property consultancy services. John leads the non agency consultancy side of the office specialising in solving client property problems in what has always been a difficult market to interpret given the areas recent huge structural changes from the reliance on the heavy engineering and petrochemical industries. This has led him to become involved in the business community and has included being President of the North East Chamber of Commerce, Chair of Teesside Tomorrow, Governor of the Univerity of Teesside and Director of the Middlesbrough Town Centre Company. John is married with three children and lives within the North York Moors National Park which encourages him to enjoy walking, music, photography and ski-ing.
